The annual Indiana High School  volleyball state tournament series begins this week for the local teams.

At the Class 3A Princeton Sectional 31, Sullivan will entertain Pike Central in the opening match at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Host Princeton will play the second match against Washington.

On Saturday at 11 a.m., Barr-Reeve, who moved up from 2A because of the tournament success factor, will take on the winner of Sullivan-Pike Central contest.

The second semifinal will feature Vincennes Lincoln vs. the Princeton-Washington winner.

The championship match is set for 7 p.m. Saturday.

Sullivan enters the tournament on a three-game winning streak. The 18-8 Lady Arrows defeated Cloverdale, North Knox and Clay City in the final week of the regular season.

At the Class A Sectional 57 at White River Valley, Bloomfield will take on Shakamak and Eminence will meet Clay City in the two opening round matches, starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The host Lady Wolverines will meet the Bloomfield-Shakamak winner in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. Saturday.

North Central will play in the second semifinal on Saturday against the Eminence-Clay City winner.

The title contest will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.
