Although the Sullivan girls missed qualifying for the regional by nine points, three Sullivan runners will be making the trip to Bedford North Lawrence for the boys and girls cross country regional.
Kate Ridgway and Hanna Burkhart of the SHS girls team and Ben McKinley of the SHS boys squad finished in the top 10 outside of the individuals that ran on the five advancing teams at the Terre Haute North Sectional, which took place at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Saturday morning.
Ridgway covered the 3.1 miles in 23 minutes and 14 seconds.
She was 22nd overall and was the fourth individual girls qualifier.
Burkhart’s time of 24:52 was 33rd overall. She was the 10th and final girls qualifier.
McKinley was timed at 20:19 in the boys race. He was 32nd overall and the fifth qualifier.
The Sullivan boys ran ninth as a team.
North Central did not have enough runners to compile a team score.
Mallorie Cochran (28:40) and Grace Scott (28:49) finished 51-52 for the Ladybirds.
Jessalyn Jones placed 68th (34:21).
Gunner Allen (63rd, 24:57) and Carter Monser (70th, 25:52) were the only NC boys to run.
Jeremy Salesman (46th, 21:49), Kaden Helms (47th, 22:03), William Brooks (53rd, 23:14). Jacob Chastain (59th, 23:41), Zackary Gibbs (64th, 25:13) and Chad McCammon (68th, 25:42) also finished for the Sullivan boys.
Gaige Goodman (40th, 25:51), senior Josie Gettinger (46th, 26:33), Makayla Hitt (47th, 26:41), Kayla Samm (48th, 28:10) and Mary Boone (59th, 30:52) rounded out the top seven for the Sullivan girls.
Northview won the girls race with 21 points. Terre Haute South had 63, Terre Haute North 96, Clay City 143, Owen Valley 158, Sullivan 167, Riverton Parke 174, Linton 187 and Shakamak 222.
In the boys, Northview had a winning total of 25 points. Terre Haute South had 47, Terre Haute North 84, Clay City 116, West Vigo 143, Riverton Parke 177, Owen Valley 183, Shakamak 219 and the Golden Arrows scored 233 points.
The regional races at Bedford are slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
