Robert E. O'Neal

Robert E. O’Neal, 72, Farmersburg, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on

Thursday, June 3, 2021, in Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care,

Terre Haute. He was born on  Dec. 14, 1948, in Greencastle, to Marion

E. O’Neal and Francis (Higgins) O’Neal.

He graduated from Greencastle High School and was a 12-year veteran of

the U.S. Army 38th Infantry, served in Vietnam and received a Purple

Heart for his bravery. He was a truck driver after being discharged

from the military.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles O’Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Joanna D. O’Neal, Farmersburg, whom he

married on June 22, 2019; daughters, Misty Holcomb, Wasilla, AK, and

Laurie Anne O’Neal Walker, Greencastle; grandchildren, Elley Lane and

Cody Walker; brother, Gerald O’Neal, Brownsburg; sisters, Janice

Jackman, Greencastle, and Karen Rosson, Illinois; and several nieces

and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218

South Meridian Street, Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 11

a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Services are Saturday,

June 26, 2021, with Cindy Buskirk officiating. Interment will be at

Peavey Cemetery, Howesville, with military graveside rites.
