Norma Ilene (Turner) Kirk, 91, Farmersburg, passed away at 11:41 p.m. Jan. 6, 2023, in her home.
She was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Carlisle, to Winfield Scott Turner and Lena (Spoonmore) Turner. Norma collected cookie jars and cookbooks. She enjoyed reading, baking cookies and bread and gardening and canning. She was a member of Shelburn Church of God and was known as a prayer warrior to many. Norma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She loved her family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman Turner; two sisters Mary Buffington and Evelyn Ruble; one son-in-law, Phillip Braasch; one daughter-in-law, Tonia Kirk; and one grandson-in-law, Scott Fields.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Oscar Kirk Jr., Farmersburg, whom she married June 12, 1948; her children, Oscar (and Salvacion) Kirk lll, Worthington, Kristie (and Brad) Harper, Newburgh, Trisha Braasch, Florence, and Martin Kirk, Sullivan; her grandchildren, Michelle (and Zach) Furniss, Alyssa Kirk, Angela Fields, Terry Malone, Pamela Malone, Victoria (and Cody) Bryant, Mary Harper, Chelsea (and Jacob) White, Melissa Braasch, Amana (and Brian) Braasch-Richards, Sarah Braasch, Joshua Braasch, Rebekah Braasch (and Chris Demoss), Karie (and Chip) Hunter and Cody Atherton; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Gene Turner, Madison, James Turner, Carmel, Merle (and Dartha) Turner, Chipley, Fla., Paul (and Kay) Turner, Wheatland, and Robert (and Janice) Turner, Vincennes; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Jan. 14, at the Cox Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Warren officiating. Visitation is from noon until time of services. Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 S. Meridian St., Jasonville. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery, Midland. Â
