Dwight E. Nielson

Dwight E. Nielson, 77, Dugger, passed away at his residence on Nov. 22,

2021. He was born on March 21, 1945, in Moorhead, Minnesota, the son of

Verlin Nielson and Francis Pearl Brady Nielson.

Dwight was a retired coal miner at Minnehaha and Chinook Coal Mine. He was

a U.S. Marines veteran. He was a member of the Dugger Masonic Lodge 721,

the Dugger American Legion Post 224 and the VFW 1587, Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pamela Davis

Nielson; one son, Scott Mason; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Nielson; two daughters, Jodie

Nielson, Dugger, and Jamie Beaver, Marshalltown, IA; seven siblings,

Salt Lake City, UT; two grandchildren, Ryan and Cory; and two

great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30, at Newkirk’s Funeral Home,

with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A military graveside service will

take place at a later date at the Dugger Cemetery.
