The City of Sullivan, Sullivan American Legion, VFW, Center Ridge Cemetery and community volunteers will come together for a Sullivan Memorial Day tribute tradition.
Every year, members of the Sullivan American Legion gather on the Friday before Memorial Day to lay an American flag on every veteran’s tombstone in the City of Sullivan.
Volunteers are gathering at Center Ridge Cemetery on the top of the hill at 9 a.m. to pay respects to over the 1,300 veterans who are buried in Sullivan. The public is invited.
Center Ridge Cemetery is located at 704 W. Johnson St., Sullivan.
McDonald's offers free breakfast for veterans
Locally-owned McDonald’s restaurants will celebrate Memorial Day by offering free breakfast to military service members on Monday, May 29.
Retired or active-duty military service members can enjoy a free breakfast combo of choice from 6 to 10:30 a.m. in Sullivan and the surrounding area.
Local owners say Memorial Day is a time to celebrate and remember the sacrifices made by the great men and women in our military, and they hope local heroes know how much they appreciate all they’ve done for each and every one in the community.
