Foundations distribute grants
During a reception at the Sullivan branch of the Sullivan County Public Library on Wednesday, the Sullivan County Community Foundation and Wabash Valley Community Foundation awarded several Sullivan County agencies and organizations grants totaling $43,104.37. Above, SCPL Director Jordan Orwig accepts the library’s two grant checks from Beth Tevlin, the WVCF executive director. These grants are issued from designated funds, those that were either set up by the organizations themselves or through donations made by benefactors in the organizations’ names. The 23 county groups receiving funds are Brown Baggers School Food Program; Carlisle Town Board; Chances and Services for Youth; First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan; Gill Township Volunteer Fire Fighters Inc.; Humane Society of Sullivan County; Lincoln Christian University; Merom Camp & Retreat Center Inc.; Merom Improvement Assoc. Inc.; Merom United Methodist Church; Northeast School Corp.; Open Arms Christian Ministries; Our Father's Arms Inc.; Shelburn United Methodist Church; Southwest High Schools Alumni Association Inc.; Sullivan County 4-H; Sullivan County Community Hospital; Sullivan County Historical Society; Sullivan County Public Library; Sullivan High School; Sullivan Middle School; and Turman Township Youth Foundation.
