Golden Arrows rally to beat former coach, Richland County, twice

Sullivan gave a rude homecoming to former baseball coach Matt McLaren and his Richland County Tigers from Olney, Illinois on Friday night at Sportland Field.
Sullivan rallied to sweep the doubleheader, winning game one 10-7 and the nightcap 14-13.
Richland County slipped to 4-5 while Sullivan improved to 7-1.
Sullivan trailed 7-3 before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh of game one.
The Arrows fell behind in game two by scores of 6-1, 8-5 and 13-12.
Alex Cooks tossed six inning and earned the win in game one. Chris Taylor pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.
Cam Walters started and pitched the first five innings of game two.
Jack Conner pitched 1 1/3 innings and Taylor threw the final 2/3 of an inning to pick up the save.
Taylor had a home run, scored twice and knocked in three runs in game one. He had three hits, including two doubles, and scored twice in game two.
Sam Steimel was 4-for-4 in the nightcap with a double, two home runs and six RBIs. He scored five runs, two in the first game.
Kaleb Thrasher hit his first varsity home run in the game two win. He was 3-for-4 in the nightcap after going 1-for-4 with a run scored in game one.
Shane Garner had one hit and scored three runs for the evening.
Conner collected three runs, four hits and five RBIs combined.
For the evening, Karter Vernelson had two runs, one hit and one RBI.
Kyle Vernelson contributed one run and a single and Eli Steimel picked up two hits and one run.
Cooks finished the night with two runs and two hits.
Spencer Pirtle scored one run.
Sullivan will play a Western Indiana Conference game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Putnam.
