Sullivan loses first game

Terre Haute South scored seven runs in the first and third innings as the host Braves defeated Sullivan 14-2 in a high school baseball game on Thursday.
 After five wins to start the season, it was the first loss for the Golden Arrows.
Braeden Nichols and Kyle Vernelson each gave up seven runs.
Nichols was the starting and losing pitcher.
He yielded five hits in 2/3 of an inning. He walked one and fanned one, allowing six earned runs.
Kyle Vernelson pitched  2 1/3 innings, yielding five hits. He allowed six earned runs while walking three and fanning one.
Chris Taylor allowed one hit, issued a walk and fanned two in a scoreless inning of relief.
Taylor and Shane Garner each had a hit and scored one run.
Alex Cooks, Sam Steimel and Eli Steimel each added a base hit.
Sullivan will host Richland County, Illinois in a doubleheader today, starting at 4:30 p.m.
