FARMERSBURG — North Central extended its winning streak to five after a 68-48 victory over visiting Riverton Parke in a high school girls basketball game on Wednesday night.
The Ladybirds improved to 12-7 while Riverton Parke slipped to 7-13.
“Riverton Parke’s record is not indicative of how good they are,” said North Central coach Joey Davidson. “And they were without one of their top players.
“They are one of the best 7-13 teams that you will see. This was a good win for North Central.”
Averi Davidson paced the winners with a game-high 27 points. She made 8 of 20 shots, including 6 of 17 3-pointers, to go with four assists and two steals.
“Averi shot the ball well tonight,” said her dad coach Davidson. “The girls get going when they see the ball go in the basket.”
North Central, who led 23-12, 38-7 and 52-43 at the first three quarter stops, came up with 11 steals and they forced the Lady Panthers into 25 turnovers.
Rachel Shroyer had four steals to go with five rebounds, one assist and two points.
Courtney Williams, playing her second game back after a stress fracture, tallied 15 points, four assists, one steal and one rebound.
Jocelyn Cox tallied 12 points with seven rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Camryn Clapp had 16 points for Riverton Parke and Mackenzie Schermann added 14.
North Central will host North Vermillion on Saturday. The girls JV game will start at 3 p.m. with the varsity game set to begin at 6 p.m. as part of a girls-boys junior varsity-varsity bill. The boys JV will be played at 4:30 p.m. with the boys varsity set for 7:30 p.m.
