“The kids came out ready to play,” said North Central coach Jacob Cummings. “We hit some shots and they were amped up.
“But it wasn’t just our offense. Our defense also did a great job early. Unfortunately we were unable to sustain it.”
Jack Wininger paced the 4-0 Cougars with 18 points. Kirk Wagler scored 11 points as did Landon Mokris, who made three 3-pointers.
“North Daviess is well coached and they are a very good team,” said Cummings. “They are young, but they are already good.”
North Central, who led 14-9 after the opening quarter, was led by Bryton Suggs, who made four 3-pointers and tallied 15 points.
Ty Thompson scored eight points and Dawson Basinger added seven.
North Central will host Hutsonville-Palestine, Illinois on Tuesday, starting with the JV at 6:30 p.m.
Their conference game at home against Eastern Greene has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 19.
“I really like this group of kids,” said Nolting. “Our first win is coming soon.”
