Photo by JESSICA PITTS: Sullivan senior Sydney Pike, 1980, concluded her cross country career by running at the Brown County Semi-state at Eagle Park in Nashville on Saturday.

Sydney Pike ran her last cross country race for the Lady Arrows. The Sullivan senior finished 93rd at the Brown County Semi-state on Saturday at Eagle Park in Nashville, across from Brown County High School.
Pike, who was competing in her first semi-state after running in four consecutive regionals, ran a personal record time of 21 minutes and 01.1 seconds.
Her previous PR was a 21:14 in the Western Indiana Conference championship at Cascade.
Pike was the third girl from Sullivan (Bree Lighthizer and Erica Moore) to have qualified to run at the semi-state, but the first to run at the extended 5K distance. Previously, the girls ran 4K.
“Sydney definitely represented herself and her school well,” said Sullivan coach Samantha Unger. “She is definitely an example of what I want my younger athletes to look up to.”
“It is easy to say that we will definitely miss her being a part of us in the future seasons.”
