Lady Arrows top Vikings, even record at 2-2
The Sullivan girls golf team evened its record at 2-2 after a 209-243 win over host West Vigo in a high school match at Rea Park in Terre Haute on Thursday.
“It was a very nice night to play golf,” said Sullivan coach Justin Ridge. “We are playing better and also benefitted from playing circle 7 instead of circle 8s. Also, Rea Park is an easier course.
“Carsyn (Wayland) shot 50, which is closer to where we think she can shoot. It was her best score of the year and maybe the best score of her career.”
Senior Gabby Burkhart led the Lady Arrows by shooting a 47.
Courtney Lueking had a 54, Kolbi Mahurin 58, Cara Gofourth 59 and Annily Condon and Bonnie Witt each shot 62.
“Kolbi scored where you think a first-year golfer would shoot,” said Ridge.
Sullivan will host Vincennes Lincoln on Monday.
