Fire damages rural Sullivan County home
A fire damaged a home in rural Sullivan County on Sunday morning.
The Turman Township Fire Department responded 9 a.m. Sunday and finished just before 12:30 p.m. The home was located on the 9700 block of West CR 950N.
“A lot of smoke,” TTFD Chief Reggie Pinkston said of what they found on arrival. “Heavy smoke, not really a whole lot of flames, but once inside there were a lot of flames.”
No one was home when the fire started and no one was injured while the flames were put out.
However, the home sustained major damage.
“The downstairs was not damaged by the flames, but it did have a lot of smoke and water damage,” Pinkston said. “The entire upper story had heavy, heavy damage.”
A cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“We’ve got the fire marshal is supposed to be on scene (today) to go through it and see what he can find,” Pinkston added.
